PermaJet’s New Heritage Range: what do the professionals think?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock throughout February, you’d already know that we’ve launched a brand new range of premium fine art papers that have joined our flagship award-winning paper, Museum Heritage 310, to create the Heritage Range.

The 4 exceptional papers are 100% cotton, contain no optical brighteners, and are acid and lignin free making them ideal for any fine art project requiring the highest grades of archival standards. Each surface offers a specialist finish or texture to honour and define creative work, perfect for the reproduction of traditional artworks and digital images in limited and open edition print runs.

I’ve been a fan of PermaJet’s Baryta papers for years and, although it’s early doors, I think Baryta Rag 310 could become my new go-to satin finish. I rate it highly.

It’s probably my new favourite smooth matt paper. It’s a gorgeous paper; rich, detailed, with zero distraction when looking at the image.

Monochrome images looked impressive and had a robustness. The shadows also held detail well, with really rich and solid blacks – impressive for matte paper. Highlights and areas of lighter greys looked smooth and were produced well, too.

It is by some margin the most characterised of the set by its surface texture and is typical of a watercolour medium, ideal for reproduction of watercolours and images with a deliberate fine art feel to them.

Museum Heritage 310 presents a smooth warm tone, combined with a gently perceptible surface patina. The paper is eminently suitable where both a subtle approach and a delicate nuance of tone are required. Its weight and surface qualities are appropriate for a range of genres from pictorial expressions and romantic landscapes to still-life, portraiture and fine art.
