PermaJet are at the forefront of pioneering inkjet paper technology, enabling photographers, artists and commercial printers to create high quality prints using the finest paper in the world.
With this in mind, we are proud to present our improved FB Gold Silk 315 - new for 2020.

This 2020 update embraces the following features:

◊ A smoother, more glossy surface finish
◊ Improved coating technology
◊ Now available in a 60” roll format

These improvements have been made to meet our customers needs, helping you achieve prints with exceptional true to life colours and beautiful monochrome tones, with pin-sharp details, a wider tonal range and an exceptional record-breaking Dmax.

PermaJet FB Gold Silk is a true baryta paper and has a sumptuous feel with a Silk Gloss finish on a fine art heavyweight base of 315gsm.

This inkjet paper has been developed with a natural base tint to emulate the surface finish, texture and coating of traditional darkroom baryta/fibre based papers, making it the perfect choice for the serious monochrome worker. And, the great news is, you can still use your existing older FB Gold Silk ICC profiles without the need to create new ones.

The smooth gloss coating has been applied directly onto a true baryta layer and fibre base enabling its users to create intense, velvety blacks and subtle, creamy whites - the perfect combination for outstanding portraiture and landscape reproductions, whether in monochrome or colour.

""This paper equals the best we have ever tested and in two areas it now holds the record statistics... We expected good statistics from the colour audit and were not disappointed - stunned would be a more appropriate description... This is a paper with 2020 in both launch date and vision!""

The New FB Gold Silk is a heavyweight (in every sense of the word) amongst papers and is an exceptional product within Permajet’s Baryta range. This warm, very slightly textured paper not only emulates traditional darkroom characteristics, but it also exudes a quality and sophistication demanded by the digital age. The harmonious fusion of rich distinctive blacks, together with creamy whites represent a vitality and tonal precision that will undoubtedly attract the most discerning of photographers. Put simply, a class leading paper, unrivalled by its contemporaries.

FB Gold Silk has been my first choice paper since it was introduced and the updated version does not disappoint. Using the same custom profile it delivered good colour with a lovely smooth finish. I have read that it has a very high d max but I'm not that technical - I just saw very crisp clean black, giving good contrast which made the image sparkle. The paper has a slightly warm colour, ideal for people pictures in mono and colour and, whilst I wouldn't describe the surface as "silk" it has a very nice "gentle" gloss, reminiscent of fondly remembered darkroom prints. Still my favourite paper for 90% of my prints!

When I first heard that the original Gold Silk was to be discontinued I must admit I was disappointed as it's been my first choice for colour printing for the last 5 years. But I needn't have worried - the new version is every bit as good! I've printed identical images on the new & old versions & I really cannot tell any discernible difference and that is high praise indeed. I can rest easy - my favourite paper lives on!
