About John

John Nassari first became interested in photography at the tender age of 13 when his stepfather gave him his first camera. After earning a degree in advertising photography from the then called Medway College 1991 (now called University of the Arts), he pursued a career in advertising and editorial photography.

John followed the academic path throughout much of his career. He completed an MA in Visual Culture at Middlesex followed by a PhD the University of East London, and spent many years teaching at the university level.

In addition to exhibiting worldwide, John has also competed for a number of well-known accolades. In fact, John was a finalist of the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize in 2000, 2006 and 2013, where his work was selected for the final exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery.

He is an educator and practitioner. In 2016, the Evening Standard said he was one of the Top 13 Wedding Photographers in London; he was selected to exhibit in space, in orbit, for the Portraits of Humanity Awards. He won Best Photographer UK Bridelux 2012 and Best Videographer, Bridelux 2022.

He is an Olympus, SIM and PermaJet Ambassador.
