Alessio Franconi
About Alessio
Alessio Franconi got into photography when he was a kid, reading National Geographic together with his grandfather, who travelled the world always with his camera. He started practicing with an old, completely manual film Pentax, which he brought to the highest peaks of the Alps.
He began exploring the Great War battlefields between the Alps and the Carpathians to better understand where his great-grandfathers fought and died. Since then, he has exhibited his main reportage, ‘Here They Fought,’ in several European countries at major venues. He has never stopped exploring, turning it into a lifelong commitment to preserving the memory of the past and honouring the Fallen.
He is also a travel writer and photographer, capturing different cultures through his lens. He has published several books and articles for leading Italian publishers, including National Geographic Italia.
Since 2024, he has become a drone operator, discovering amazing new perspectives. In fact, Alessio was a finalist at the Siena Drone Photo Awards 2024.
He brought the PermaJet sunflower on his Land Rover during his field expeditions, often conducted in extreme environmental conditions.
