After graduating from l'IDHEC in Paris (Institut des hautes études cinématographiques
, now known as La FEMIS) Didier Fontan shared his activities between directing short films for cinema, live shows and television. As a professional photographer, he also organized Cibachrome exhibitions of his work in London, Paris and Mauritius, with the Roland Dufau workshop. In 2014 he edited his first book of his architectural pictures, titled “The Twelve Labours of Hercules” in association with the Capital & Continental company.
At this time, to be self-sufficient with the printing of his photo exhibits, he and his son Stéphane decided to open their own workshop near Paris, called “Les Trois Univers de l'Image”, equipped with the latest digital Canon printers.
Didier Fontan is a printer instructor at the AFMI in Montreuil, and works with Canon, x-Rite, and now PermaJet, to develop and improve the middle and wide format printing. Since 2017 Didier Fontan works with Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and he is now planning his next wide-format exhibition about the Parisian subway during the 70's-80's.
