Our club was formed in 1907 and is open to all regardless of age, sex, race, religion, physical disability or ethnic origin. It does not matter whether you are a complete beginner or hold photographic distinctions or qualifications, we all aim to help each other. Ours is a friendly club with around 50 members.
Our members include all age ranges and we would like to attract more young people, since the club’s future depends on the youth of today. There are special rates for anyone aged 16-18. The younger ones amongst us are more au fait with computers and electronic gadgets, whereas the older ones are more used to using film and wet chemistry processing. The latter may be content nowadays to have their digital images processed by a laboratory.
We have a full programme of speakers who show us their work and are willing to share their knowledge and expertise on a variety of topics. The programme is interspersed with competitions for prints and digital projected images, and we invite judges from far and wide to share their ideas on how work may be improved.
Each year we hold an Annual Dinner at which shields and trophies are awarded to members who have distiguished themselves in club competitions. We also take part in competitions with other clubs within a ten mile radius.
