Why not join us here in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire for a full day of photographic ideas to change your thought process on the way of taking your images!
PART 1 – SEEING IMAGES AND ASPECTS OF DESIGN and ABSTRACT – VISUAL AWARENESS and USING A LOCATION , SITUATION, OR CIRCUMSTANCE
The morning session is about making the most of the opportunities that you create as a photographer – using a number of different approaches to varying subjects, lens-work, angle of view, and viewpoint. You’ll explore ways of adding intuition, influences, emotion, composition, and involvement.
Leigh Preston FRPS, EFIAP, MPAGB will teach you about making pictures away from the ‘norm’, focusing on personal vision, interpretation, format, triptych work, and composite images. Discover how to make pictures with an emphasis, whilst also exploring simplicity and use of empty spaces within the frame. Leigh will cover what to leave in and what to take out to make a picture work, and ultimately how to make your individual images in a unique, personal style.
The session will cover the refinement of those opportunities in a section on after-work/processing and the stages of image adjustment. The final part is about building a portfolio, and making ‘panels’ and pictorial essays.
PART 2 – LET’S TALK MONO
This is a comprehensive afternoon session on monochrome photography.
Explore suitable subjects for mono, and the various ways you can interpret a picture in monochrome. You’ll look at a range of images and a series of before and after examples with the stages of ‘change and adjustment’ to realise the best print as an end result. A mono print is a subtraction from reality and the ideas that fit with that way of seeing and thinking.
Leigh will be bringing a range of his prints for you to look at during the day, to give you ideas on how a paper choice can enhance your images.
