About Armando Jongejan

Born in 1960 and still living in Egmond aan Zee, the Netherlands, I studied photography at the University of Applied Photography in Apeldoorn and work as a freelance photographer.

My work is characterized by a thematic approach in documentary and contemporary photography. I like to make contact with people preferring to make photographs of them in their own environment: their habitat. I知 curious how they live, what they do. It inspires me. My approach is to create a coherent body of work (in a square format) rather than just one single photo.

I printed my photos in the darkroom and nowadays digital. I知 invited to select at salons and exhibitions in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Ireland on a regular basis, and I知 also asked to lecture to clubs and societies throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, England and Scotland. In 2001 I gained BMK (similar to FRPS in the Netherlands) and in 2009 I gained a RPS Fellowship. At the moment I知 a member of the Dutch Journalistic Group and BMK-group, the RPS Contemporary Group and the Benelux Chapter. Since 2017 I知 appointed to be Distinction Panel Member of Conceptual and Contemporary Photography for Associate (ARPS) and Fellowship (FRPS).

Since 1990 I had regularly exhibited, such as in the Hasselblad Image Center - Utrecht, FOAM Photography Museum - Amsterdam, Dutch Museum of Photography - Rotterdam, (Netherlands), Gallery Mauritian - Tallinn (Estonia), St臈tichen Museum - Halberstadt (Germany) and in the Photography Museum of China - Lishui (China). Since 1996 I have had five photographic books published. My new photobook 閃onnikenleven (Monks life) will be available from 2nd June 2018. My work is also included in private, photo museums and corporate collections.

Above all, I like to make a new series of photography and talk about my experiences during lectures and workshops. It is nice to share!
