This one day introduction to the art of portrait photography will provide participants with the practical experience to create stunning portraits using studio flash and available light. Explore the use of lighting to create shape in a subject. The use of single and multiple light sources, balancing fill lights with the key light - which lenses and choice of aperture to use.

The use of a professional model during the morning will allow course emphasis to be put on the practical aspects of composition, pose, lighting, metering and use of various lenses - this aspect, the taking of the photograph, is only 50% of the job and so in the afternoon, the focus will be image manipulation in Photoshop to obtain optimum skin tone and a balanced image.

On the day, participants should bring their camera and lens(es), freshly charged batteries and chargers and plenty of memory cards.
