A PermaJet Print Academy training weekend for 2017...
“PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL PRINTING AT THE BLACK COUNTRY LIVING MUSEUM WITH THE RAGGED VICTORIANS” -
In association with The Royal Photographic Society...
A super weekend event (non-residential)... SATURDAY 8TH APRIL & SUNDAY 9TH APRIL 2017
After the great success of our "Train to Print" weekends, the PermaJet Print Academy teamed up with the amazing Black Country Living Museum to offer a unique weekend of Photography and Digital Printing in October 2016 which quickly sold out - so, new 2017 dates now have been added below. This is one of the most visited museums in the UK harbouring a wealth of industrial heritage dating back to the Victorian era as well as themed shops, streets and of course, costume dressed actors representing the period.
The venue offers photographers the unique opportunity to provide a combined photography and print experience, taking place over the weekend of the 8th & 9th of April 2017 at the museum's home at Tipton Road, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 4SQ.
Set in a landscape of 26 acres, it is one of the most extraordinary open-air museums in the UK; offering a glimpse into 200 years of history like no other. The site tells the story of a very special time and place in history and some of the most hard-working, ingenious and influential people you could imagine!
Black Country folk changed the world, and in the cobbled streets of this canalside village and with camera in hand, you will capture images of the past and how ‘they’ became ‘us’. Over fifty authentic shops, houses and workshops have been carefully reconstructed to preserve the character of the region when its manufacturers brought worldwide fame to Black Country Towns.
Starting at 10.00am, our regular training lecturers, Leigh Preston FRPS and Pete Johnson LRPS, will take you to site locations with unprecedented access allowing unhindered photography whilst you learn vital new skills and techniques from the pair. Don't miss the chance to grab a shot or two of those numerous 'Ragged Victorians' who are tagging along with you!
This day has been designed to offer you an insight into an area of photography that many photographers would otherwise not have, with a mix of set scenes with and without period actors, outdoors and indoors, along with industrial architecture and heritage all set in this wonderful location. With so much to see and do, this is an all-weather venue so there's no excuse to drop out if it's raining!
Sunday sees the second phase in the 'The Ragged Victorians' weekend. Taking place at the home of the prominent Smethwick Photographic Society, The Old School House, Churchbridge, Oldbury, B69 1AB, the digital printing day tutors will go through everything you need to know to produce exhibition quality prints of a selection of the group's images from the previous day.
