Random Ink Blobbing

Symptoms:

  • My printer puts dots of unwanted ink on the paper.
  • My printer blobs ink onto the paper during printing.
  • I have ink on my rollers and it makes marks on the prints.

Routine Maintenance: - Assuming that you have followed all routine maintenance guidance provided by the printer manufacturer (this includes print head alignment, lubrication & cleaning of moving parts and waste pads, and nozzle cleaning procedures), there may be times like now that additionally maintenance is required.

Solution:
If you experience sporadic ink drops when printing, this is usually down to printer maintenance and the following steps MUST be undertaken.

Clean up your printer with some tissue or towel so there is no residue of ink on the internal pads, rollers or elsewhere. The spitting problem should be solved if carried out correctly.

If you have a lot of ink in your printer and on the rollers, try this... get a clean sheet of PermaJet Proofing paper and RETAC, check the PermaJet website for your Cleaning Sheet Kit.

Spray the RETAC as indicated on the reverse side of a sheet of PermaJet Proofing paper and let this settle for around 10 mins. Now manually feed the tacky side up into the printer by pressing the paper feed button. Do this several times, you will see just how much dirt and ink will appear. The RETAC solution will clean up the rubber grippers, rollers and collect all the loose fibres within the printer. RETAC will keep your printer working efficiently.
